The purpose of a Custom Made Wrist Orthosis is to rest, protect, position and immobilise the Wrist joint and ForeArm.   Foot Mechanic Orthotics Custom Made Wrist Orthosis encourages Hand movement while correcting, positioning or aligning the Wrist joint and Forearm at the same time. 

A Custom Made Wrist Orthosis can serve many purposes, but the primary reason for a Wrist Orthosis is most often the immobilisation and protection of the Hand, Wrist and ForeArm.   When the Hand, Wrist and ForeArm is immobilised, there is a much higher potential for healing.   The Wrist Orthosis increases the healing process by forcing the affected area to rest.

Depending on your injury or condition, the Wrist Orthosis can provide minimal, moderate, or maximum resistance.   While your body heals, your Wrist Orthosis can be adjusted to accommodate changes in swelling or motion, which will lead to a more successful outcome.

Who Needs A Custom Made Wrist Orthosis?

Different injuries and different procedures require different Wrist Orthosis designs.   There are essentially two types of Wrist Orthosis, pre-fabricated and Custom Made Wrist Orthosis.   While prefabricated Wrist Orthosis can be very helpful in some circumstances, a poorly fitting prefabricated Wrist Orthosis could delay healing or create more problems.

​Unlike off the shelf Wrist Orthosis, Custom Wrist Orthosis are customised to specifically meet the users needs, creating better results and outcomes for the user.   A Custom Made Wrist Orthosis are fitted to the patient allowing accommodation to variations is anatomy, alignment of joints and swelling.   From patients that need to use a wheelchair comfortably to those that want their Wrist Orthosis to fit even inside their sports gloves.

How Long Do I Have To Wear A Wrist Orthosis?

As the injuries are supported and stabilised by wearing a Wrist Orthosis, how long does the patient have to wear the Wrist Orthosis for?   The answer depends on a number of factors, from the type of injury or Arthritis for example, to its severity in regard to the Bones, Tendons, Ligaments, and Muscle all healing at different stages.  Their are patients that may need to wear a pre-fabricated or Custom Made Wrist Orthosis for everyday use.
